Mary E. (Ryan) Hoey, 92, died Monday in the Knollwood Nursing Home in Worcester. Her husband, James L. Hoey died in 1963. She leaves three daughters, Mary E. Tuppen, Barbara M. Hynes, and Patricia A. Balcom; a brother, Robert V. Ryan. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Paul J. and Bridget (Rooney) Ryan.
Mrs. Hoey was a clerk at the Worcester Gas Light Company before her marriage, and later worked as a telephone operator at Clark University and the law offices of Mirick, O'Connell, DeMallie and Lougee, before retiring. She was a soloist for more than 30 years at St. Peter's Church. She and her late husband also sang together at many church and divic functions. She was a former member of the Worcester County Light Opera Club, the Dorian Singers, the Echoetts, St. Paul's Cathedral Radio Mass Choir, St. Joan of Arc Church Choir, and the Court Bishop O'Leary Catholic Daughters of America.
Her funeral was held at the Athy Memorial Home in Worcester.
