Charles F. Dixon, of Quincy, Nov. 20, a retired Boston Globe photographer for thirty-eight years and Globe Santa died peacefully at nearly 95 years of age. Charlie served in the United States Coast Guard during WW II escorting troop ships in dangerous waters and participated in the occupation of Germany. He retired from the Coast Guard Reserve achieving the rank of full commander. Charlie was born and raised in South Boston. He was the son of John Joe Dixon, a Boston newspaper photographer and Ellen Buchanan Dixon, Boston newspaper poet. Charlie is survived by Eugene Dixon and his wife Angela both Boston newspaper photographers, Claire Boyce a candid photographer, and Marion-Lundfelt Odermatt, a newspaper columnist. He is preceded by his brothers, John Jack and George, both Boston newspaper photographic editors, Robert, a photographer for the Mass Turnpike, and infant Frederick. His sisters included Helen Joan Connors, a commercial photographer, and young sister Ruth. He is also survived by his devoted friend of many years Maria Krivoshlioff, D.M.D. and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday followed by a service at the funeral home at 11. Burial will be at Bourne National Cemetery later in the day.
