Marina was born at the Braden Copper Company mining camp in the Andes Mountains near Santa Fe, Tocopilla Province, Chile. She was the eldest child of Lucila and Carlos Ahumada (aka Charles Berryman). She lived much of her younger life in Santiago, Chile where she met US Army Air Corps Sgt Cecil Saul. They were married in 1948 at The Bible House, Colon, Republic of Panama. She lived with him at various military stations in the United States, El Salvador, Panama Canal Zone and Jerusalem (Israel & Jordan). IN 1964 she was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and hospitalized in Dayton Ohio. While confined there she rejected her U.S. citizenship and returned to Chile. A divorce was granted in Xenia, Ohio in 1965. At a date unknown but probably around 1985, she returned to the U.S and took up residence in Queens, and later Manhattan, New York. She supported herself as an independent cosmetics sales agent. She died in a nursing home. Her body was cremated June 9, 2012 and her ashes poured into the Hudson River. Much of the information for this bio was furnished by her niece, Antonia, of Vancouver Canada. .
