Clarice had a son by the name of Emile Patrick Bachand before she married Joseph Ludger "Lee" Abel in 1920. His father is believed to be Emile A. Bachand of Clyde Kansas; they never married.
Clarice was the mother to 10 children: Emile Patrick Bachand, Annie Marie Abel, Agatha Maxine Abel, Charles Francis Abel, Fred James Abel, Mary Abel, Joseph Patrick Abel, Teresa Mary Abel, Bernard Jerome Abel, and Raphael Alphonse Abel. Mary and Raphael did not live past infancy.
Clarice grew up in the Cloud County, Kansas. Her parents and grand-parents were all from Canada and spoke french. She did not learn how to speak English until she went to school. She remained in Kansas until she married Lee Abel. They moved to Minnesota in 1925; then Washington State in 1928; then Idaho in 1929; then to Reedsport, Oregon sometime after 1934. After Lee's death Clarice worked as a housekeeper for the parish priest until she retired in the 1970's. She lived with her sons. First with Fred, then Charles where she remained until she passed away in 1971.
Clarice had diabetes and would say that her mother died at 81, her grand-mother died at 81, and she would die at 81. Then she died at the age of 81 years.
