He was a retired teacher and farmer.
Pelton served as president of the Bloomdale Board of Education and was very active in the Wood County Republican party.
He served on the Hancock-Wood Electric Board of Directors, North Baltimore.
A member of Eagleville Church of Christ, Bloomdale, he also was a member of the Hancock County Retired Teacher's Association, National Education Association, Ohio Eduction Association, Findlay Education Association, Bloomdale Commercial Club, Perry Progressive Farm Bureau Council.
He was born Dec. 6, 1906 in Bloomdale to Earl T. and Lola E. (Emerson) Pelton and married Marjorie B. Burtsfield, June 15, 1935. She died Jan. 31 1996.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene, and a sister, Olive Mae Hester.
Surviving are a son, Thomas E., Reseda, Calif.; a daughter, Rebecca Babcock, Findlay; brother, Emerson, Tucson; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, North Baltimore. Burial will be held at Weaver Cemetery, Wood County, Bloom Township. Rev. Dale Smeltzer will officiate.
