1814 Printing apprenticeship on the "Ontario Messenger"
1819 Founded the "Spirit of the Times" in Batavia NY

1821 Marries Nancy Filer (born 1802) in Rochester, NY
1826 He moved to Buffalo, NY and went into partnership with David M Day and Roswell W. Haskins on the "Buffalo Journal". He was co-editor and the firm was Day, Follett & Haskins.
March 16, 1830 his wife Nancy died at age 28.
He was involved in Republican Politics from 1821 on.
Nov. 25, 1832 he married Eliza G. Ward in Fairport, Monroe Co., NY
Around 1834 he moved to Sandusky, Ohio and was a founder of the Bank of Sandusky.
In 1839 he was one of the editors of the "Ohio State Standard" in Columbus and by 1854 he was editor-in-chief.
For many years he was prominent in the management of the Mad River Railroad.
He did in 1894 at age 96 and is buried in Sandusky, Ohio and buried in Oakland Cemetery.
