GRANGER - Doris M. Anderson, 86, of Granger, IN, passed away at 2:45 p.m. in her residence on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010. Doris was born on June 17, 1924, in Mishawaka, IN, to Donald and Helen (Shupert) Tharp.
In October 1949, as Doris M. Tharp, she married John R. Anderson. John preceded Doris in death on July 11, 1991. Doris was also preceded in death by a son, David R. Anderson, in 1985.
Doris is survived by a son, Douglas (Natalie) Anderson of South Bend, IN; one daughter, Michelle (Brad) Highland of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Zoe, Ellie, Wyatt and Veronica; and several nieces and nephews.
Doris retired from Indiana Bell in 1983 after 34 years of service as an operator, and she was a longtime member of Twin City Baptist Church in Mishawaka, a 1943 graduate of Mishawaka High School, and volunteered for Meals on wheels and CANCO. She loved traveling and visited many states, living briefly in Tacoma, WA, as a young woman. Doris loved cats, and was a faithful contributor to the Humane Society. Family and friends may call on Friday from noon until 2:00 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will also take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, with Pastor Jerry Bell officiating, and burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
