In Northborough, Nov. 21, 2010. Husband of the late Penny (Taylor) McCaffrey. Father of Colonel Rachel McCaffrey, USAF, Margo Bishop and her husband Steven, Michele Powers and her husband Michael, and Tracy Wood and her husband Robert. Also survived by his sisters, Jean Kiley and Lois Sanborn, his sister-in-law, Mary Jaques, and seven grandchildren.

David graduated from the former Boston State College in 1966 and later received a Masters Degree from Cambridge College. He began his teacher career at Marlborough High School, where from 1967 until his retirement in 2006, he taught Psychology and Social Studies. He had also been employed at various jobs, including the many years he spent at the former Shrewsbury Racquet Club. He followed New England sports faithfully, read and cared for his garden, and enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as "Grumpy". He was respected by all who knew him for the care and devotion he showed to his wife during her lengthy illness. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teacher's Assoc. and the National Education Assoc.
