Jack married the love of his life, Bonna Shoop, on February 15, 1956 in Pierre. Jack and Bonna made their home in the Okobojo area in Sully County. To this union were born three children; Michael, Marty and Michele.
Jack spent the majority of his working career in farming and ranching.
He also spent time working road construction and on the Oahe Dam project. Jack had a passion for his farm and ranch life; he enjoyed working with livestock (especially horses) and seeing the result of his labors in growing crops.
Outside of his work life, Jack could be found at a rodeo, at a dance, joking around, listening to country western music, hunting, playing with his dog or driving his red pickup truck.
Jack was a friendly, hardworking family man who will be remembered by many.
Jack was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Sully County ASCS Committee, the Ballroom Swishers Dance Club and the VFW.
Jack is survived by his wife, Bonna; three children, Mike (Jennifer) Finley, Marty (Benita Donovan) Finley, and Michele (Delon) Ganschow; grandchildren, Emily Finley, Morgan Finley and Christopher Chandler; brother-in-law, Bill Shoop; and nieces, Linda (Terry) Lockner, Sandra Finley and Dawnell (Mark) Lesocky. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James (Helen) Finley and a sister, Alice Nickel.
