Lloyd Alexander Shiver, Sr. 60, died Monday at HCA Putnam Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Gordan, Ala., and had lived in Palatka since 1963, coming from Crescent City. He retired from Central States Diversified in Palatka as a machine operator, having worked from 1959 to 1986. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Palatka. He was a member of Moose Lodge, Chapter 1825, in Crescent City, member of Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 3349 in Palatka and an Army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a sergeant.
He is survived by his daughters Linda Thomas and Evelyn Shiver Tidwell, both of Seville, Patricia Shiver of Palatka; Son, Lloyd A. Shiver, Jr. of Palatka; sister, Shirley Brooks of San Mateo; brothers, Lewis Shiver of Goodlettsville, Tenn., Richard Shiver and Willie James Shiver, both of Albany, Ga., Duff Shiver and David Shiver, both of Orlando, Larry Shiver of St. George Island; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Palatka with the Rev. Jakie Carmicle officiating. Burial will be in Palatka Memorial Gardens with gravesite military rites.
