Reuben Morgan Rainey was born about 1775 and was the 2nd child of Frederick Rainey and his wife Mary Ann Morgan. He was named for his maternal grandfather Reuben Morgan. His siblings were Smith Rainey, Frederick Rainey, Besty Wright Rainey King (only sister), Francis M.Rainey, John F. Rainey, and Phillip Rainey. In 1811, Reuben married Catherine Thomas Cleaton in Mecklenburg County Virginia. Shortly thereafter, Reuben, his brothers Frederick and John and his brother-in-law William J.King and sister Betsy migrated to the Putnam and Greene County Georgia area. Reuben and Catherine and their oldest 5 children moved on to Marion County in about 1821. They settled in an area which is now Schley County. Their children were Anna Parrisade Rainey Allison, Caroline Frances Rainey Owens, Mariah Louisa Rainey Daniel, Thomas Frederick Rainey, Permelia C. Rainey Watson, Elizabeth D. Rainey, Mary Emma Rainey Acree,and Rebecca S. Rainey.
