He married Lucy A. E. Naylor and fathered Lucy May (b. 05/04/76 - married Henry Francis Gundrum). The 1880 census lists him as a widower, but he married Sarah E. Beard sometime thereafter. In 1890, he lived in York Borough where he was one-time commander of Sedgwick Post No. 37, G.A.R.. Cause of death is listed as "cerebral apoplexy."
