Will C. Lock is dead. The end of his earthly life came at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, September 21st, 1926. He had been in ill [health] for several months following an attack of paralysis and attendant afflictions, having been stricken while at work in his field in the past spring. He rallied from the first attack and during the past summer months was at times in a hopeful condition, came to town a few times and it was felt he might ultimately recover. But a few days ago he became desperately ill and continued so for the five or six days prior to his death. Mr. Lock was born in Tallapoosa County, Ala, in the year 1868, being therefore 58 years of age at the time of his death. He was married in Alabama to Miss Cynthia Scott and to this union was born five children, all of whom survive. Some fifteen years ago his first wife died and he was remarried to Mrs. McAdams, who with their five children, live to mourn his passing. All his children with the exception of his daughter, who lives on the Texas coast, were present when death came. Mr. Lock was an honest and industrious man. He was quiet and unassuming, owning a good farm and was almost always to be found at home engaged in the multitude of duties about his home place. He was devoutly religious, having been a member of the Methodist church for many years. His membership was at Ross Chapel church and his pastor, Rev. W. A. Neill conducted the funeral service Wednesday afternoon at the DeLeon Methodist church. His friends and neighbors came in scores and hundreds to pay their last respects, filling the large auditorium to capacity. Numbers stood throughout the service. He was buried at DeLeon cemetery with the honors of Woodcraft, being a faithful member of the Woodmen of the World. (DWS 48160536)
