BOONEVILLE - Charles Wesley "Doc" Gullett, 73, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Nov. 8, 1937, in Booneville. He was a coach and a teacher. He was a member of Carolina United Methodist Church, and he was an avid Ole Miss football fan. He was member of the Army National Guard. His unit was activated during the Ole Miss integration crisis in 1962 and again during Operation Desert Storm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his bird dogs.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kerry Powell officiating. Mickey Wood will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Lourine Counce Gullett; three daughters, Nora Crump (Kevin), Kathy Edge (Regina Hopkins), both of Booneville and Gracie King (Jason) of Saucier; seven grandchildren, Haley Aycock (Justin), Bryson Edge, both of Booneville, Brandon King, Trevor King, Madison King, Sarah Grace King, all of Saucier and Lauren Grace Roseberry (Terry) of Corinth; a great-grandson, Levi "Willie Lee" Roseberry; his mother-in-law, Grace Counce of Booneville; and a sister-in-law, Nita Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Dean Gullett and Zula Hazel Gilley Gullett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Carolina United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2001 Ninth Street, Booneville, MS 38829.
