William J. Kappelman, age 78, of 2316 Berringer Road, Manitowoc, died on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Bill was born on Dec. 22, 1931, in the town of Kossuth, son of the late William C. and Clara Tills Kappelman. He grew up in the town of Kossuth and attended the Meadowbrook School and was a 1949 graduate of Mishicot High School.

Bill also attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison for the short course in agriculture.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On Dec. 4, 1965, Bill was married to the former Nancy M. Guetschow at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. Nancy preceded Bill in death on Dec. 19, 2005. Bill had a potato farm in the town of Kossuth and had worked for Lakeside Foods and Steve Schenian Trucking.

Bill was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, a former member of Rockwood Evangelical Lutheran Church and Manitowoc Civil War Roundtable.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law: William P. Kappelman of Arkansas, Jim (Amy) Kappelman of Kingston, N.H.; three daughters and sons-in-law: Kristina (Steven) Gomm of Two Rivers, Heidi (Jim) Bruckert of Pulaski, Amy (Kevin) Van Gheem of Lubbock, Texas; thirteen grandchildren: Mitchell, Nicholas, Ethan, Jacob, Benjamin, Alyssa, Adelaide, Soren, Anna Clara, Niels, Anders, Logan and Charlie; Bill's special friend: Virginia Temme of Manitowoc; one brother and sister-in-law: Karl (Harriet) Kappelman of rural Two Rivers; three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Marlyn Topp of Hubbard, Iowa, Robert (Jan) Guetschow of Minnetonka, Minn., Patti Guetschow of Newark, Del., Janet (Roger) Boettcher of Beaver Creek, Ohio; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: William C. (Clara) Kappelman; his wife: Nancy M. Kappelman; one sister: Ruth Topp; one brother-in-law: Jim Guetschow.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 916 Pine St. Manitowoc. The Revs. Nicholas Maglietto and Paul Schossow will officiate with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 310, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St. Manitowoc, on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated for Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Manitowoc Lutheran High School.

A special thank you to the staff of Holy Family Memorial Medical Center Critical Care and 5th floor, Dr. Stern, Dr. Theobald for all the wonderful care shown to Dad these final two weeks.
