Thomas E. Best, 92, of Highland Oaks, Shippenville, formerly of Williamsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, in Youngsville.

Born Sept. 13, 1918, in Mechanicsville, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Alice Walker Best.

Mr. Best was married to the former Beulah M. Beers, and she preceded him in death Sept. 26, 1989.

A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Best worked as a turbine operator for Piney Dam for 38 years.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Mr. Best was a member of the Moose, VFW and American Legion, all of Clarion.

He is survived by a son, Thomas L. Best and his wife, Sally, of Warren; a sister, Lucy Hartzell of Knox; two grandchildren, Dawn Hagberg and her husband, Jason, of Warren, and Tom Best and his wife, Susan, of Warren; six great-grandchildren, Erin, Sarah, Brett, Jacob, Emily and Ethan; one great-greatgrandchild, Owen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Glen Best, Francis Best, Lloyd Best and Arthur "Bunny" Best, and one sister, Irene Beichner.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.

Military honors will be accorded at 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home by American Legion Post 66.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Young, pastor of Williamsburg Community Bible Church of God, officiating.
