Lila Mae Wenzel-Heckel was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, passed away on September 17, 2005 in Fontana, California at the age of 80. She was a resident of the San Bernardino area for 45 years. Lila taught school both in Wisconsin and California before retiring in 1987. She was a longtime member of Highland Avenue Lutheran Church in San Bernardino. Lila was a most loving and devoted mother, teacher, and relative/friend. She gave of herself in many ways. She loved God.
She was preceeded in death by her mother (Thelma Wenzel), father(John Wenzel), and brother(James Wenzel) of Wisconsin. She had one daughter, Susan who married Bruce VanVoorhis of Colton, California. Lila was survived by 5 brothers and sisters at the time of her passing, Richard Wenzel, Marian Wenzel-Adams,and Margeret Wenzel-Kohl of Wisconsin, Wayne Wenzel of Washington, and Dale Wenzel of Florida. Also, at the time of her passing, she was survived by her "California Family" - Gloria, Linda, Julie, Marilyn, Lila and their families. Services were held at Mt. View Cemetery on Monday, September 26, 2005 at 11:00am.
