A.F. was repairing the eave when two thugs, who were drunk, fell out in the street and held the last quick draw public gun fight east of the Mississippi River. One of the shots went wild and hit A.F. Loper. He fell from the eave and was killed. The folks of Newton hung the gunman at sunset.
