Walt was born in Fort Plain on Dec. 29, 1924, the son of the late Walter and Florence (Sponable) Nestle. He was a graduate of Fort Plain schools and worked as an inspector at Remington Arms until his retirement in 1985. On Aug. 20, 1949, he married the former Mary Istle in Canajoharie. Mary passed away on Sept. 1, 2005.
Walt is survived by his daughters, Rosanne and her husband, Douglas Graham, of Ilion, and Patricia and her husband, Ronald Buchinski ,of Bellingham, Wash.; a brother, Donald and his wife, Irene Nestle, of Canajoharie; also five grand and nine great grandchildren. He was pre deceased by a sister, Virginia Trumble.
Funeral services for Walter will be held at a time and date to be announced at Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc.,100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Pastor Chris Wintermute of the Little Falls First Baptist Church will officiate; interment will follow at the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion.
