Mrs. Mattie Drew Called Home
Mrs. Mattie Drew, wife of T. S. Drew, passed peacefully away Tuesday afternoon at 5:30. She had been an invalid for the past five years, and and most of the time was confined to her bed, and suffered much.
She was 74 years, 4 months and 9 days old, and was the mother of seven children. Six survive her. There are: Mrs. Ruby Wallace of Houston, Mrs. M. C. Elliott and Miss Bessie Drew of Normangee, Tot Drew of Calvert, Carl Drew of Tullus, New Mexico and Ray Drew of California. There were also thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchildren.
During her long illness, Miss Bessie Drew was her faithful, constant companion and nurse. Her devotion to her mother has been a beautiful example to all who know her, Mrs. Drew was a member of the Free Will Baptist church and a sweet good Christian lady.
Rev. A. M. Wester conducted services at Hopewell Cemetery at 3 p.m. Wednesday, where she was tenderly laid to rest. All the children were present except fro the son from California. The Star joins many friends in offering sympathy to the sorrowing family.
