The Rev. Edward Joseph Jungblut,
94, Ledyard, retired Catholic
priest, died at an Estherville hospital
Sunday night. Funeral services
will be at SS. Peter and
Paul's Church at West Bend
Wednesday.
Fr. Jungblut came to Carroll in
1903 and served as assistant pastor
at SS. Peter and Paul's Church until
January, 1907.
In January 1921, he came to Mt.
Carmel as pastor of Our Lady of
Mount Carmel Church and was
transferred to Danbury in January,
1930. While serving at Mt. Carmel
He wrote the book. "Your Hidden
Treasure." During his pastorate
there, he was hospitalized in Waterloo
from June, 1927, until June,
1929, returning then to his duties.
He was born at Sherrill, near
Dubuque, and was graduated from
Loras College in 1891. He attended
Gradue Seminary at Montreal,
Quebec, Canada, later serving as
an assistant at the Catholic Cathedral
in Dubuque. During his career,
he also served as pastor or
assistant pastor of churches at Dubuque,
Emmetsburg, Wesley, Bancroft,
and near Bode.
In 1937, he retired and lived for
six years at Waterloo. He had also
served as chaplain at Sacred Heart
Hospital, LeMars.
