ROE WEBB 1865-1956
Roe Webb, 90, life long resident of Van Lear, died Tuesday, afternoon Feb. 21 1956, at the home of his daughter,Mrs. Shade Ward, in Van Lear, following an illness ofsix weeks. Born April 17, 1865, the son of the late William andIsabelle Music Webb, he was a farmer and a member of theChurch of Christ. He was preceded in death June 12 1945, by his wife. Surviving are five sons, John Webb, Boons Camp; Curtisand Calvin Webb, both of Van Lear; Ottis Webb, Wabash, Ind.;and Ocal (Jake) Webb, Meally; five daughters,Mrs. Sara Hyden, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Elsie Ward, Van Lear;Mrs. Angie Lynn, Wabash, Ind.; Mrs. Laura Belle Phelps,West Van Lear; and Mrs. Fannie Webb, Mallory, W.Va.;one sister, Mrs. Susan Baldridge, East Point; 52 grandchildren,84 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Friday morning, February 24, atthe Upper Millers Creek School, with S.C. Honeycutt andJ.H. Short as officiating minister. Burial was made in the Webb Cemetery at Van Lear under the direction of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home.
