James was born in Mason City, IL on December 14, 1929 to Jake and Ethel (Wible) Sexton. He married Dorothy Koehne on November 21, 1951 in Havana, IL.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy, a daughter Nancy (Larry) Wilcoxson of Texas and a son Tom (Janice) Sexton of Mason City. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Rachel and Jacob Sexton of Mason City, three step grandchildren; Scott, Jon, and Sam Wilcoxson, and one step great grandchild Wyatt Wilcoxson. He is also survived by one sister Mardelle of Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
James was a member of the Mason City Christian Church. James served in the United States Army. He was a member of Jackson Keen Post #496 in Mason City and a member of the Am-Vets in Greenview.
Funeral services will be held on December 2, 2010 at the Mason City Christian Church officiated by Pastor Joe Briseno at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Mason City Christian Church on December 1, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Flag Fund at the Jackson Keen Post # 496.
