Anton was the father of the owners of the National Brewery, bought originally as the Stumpf Brewery, later known as the Consumers Brewery in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1881 he sold the plant & bought the Staehlin Brewery (later known as the Phoenix Brewery) & organized the A. Griesedieck Brewing Company. Mr. Griesedieck sold this plant to an English syndicate in 1889 & it was later operated by the St. Louis Brewing Association & was known as the Falstaff Brewing Corporation.
