Kathleen, 79, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away Saturday. She was born to Michael L. and Lillian G. (Epler) Hopkins. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, lifetime member of the VFW Post 701, retired Postal employee and Compensation Director of the American Postal Workers, an officer for the local, state and national APWU, and was awarded the Women in Labor Award.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years William Henry Smith Jr.; daughters: Kathy (Leonard) Chiesa of Mason, and Nola (Don) Parkey of East Lansing; daughter-in-law, Shirley Smith of Longmont, Colorado; grandchildren: Melissa (Tim) Crandall of Mason, Jessica (Scott) Whitaker of Leslie, Heather (Brad) Mann of Dewitt, Jared Smith of Longmont, Colorado; great grand children: Kodi and Foster Crandall, Devin and Hayden Whitaker, Wesslee Smith, and Lyla Mann. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Richard Hopkins; a son Jon Smith and a granddaughter Carly Parkey.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. A private family interment was held.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.
