From George Turk's Josiah Anderson and Related Families [2004], page 2: "Josiah Jenkins Anderson was a successful merchant and farmer based on the inheritance he gave his children and other records found. In Habersham he was listed as a merchant in 1870 census. Aunt Martha Turk Huey said that he was in a train accident and lost one of his arms, and if you look closely at one of his pictures this appears to be correct. He was always referred to as J.J., and we know that one name was Josiah but couldn't find the other name. In information from the funeral home in Valdosta, GA for Jack Anderson, his father was listed as Josiah Jenkins Anderson as supplied by W.H. Anderson one of his sons and Susie Turk O'Donnell a niece."

Josiah Jenkins "J.J." Anderson married Susanah A. Nix January 14, 1864 in Habersham County, Ga [book b. p 47]. She was born April 21, 1847 in Georgia and died November 24, 1928 in Banks County, Georgia. Their children were
1. Thomas Edward Anderson 1864, 2. Mary S. Anderson 1866, 3. Sarah Elizabeth [Bessie] Anderson 1868, 4. Martha Jane [Mollie] Anderson 1871, 5. Andrew Jackson [Jack] Anderson 1873, 6.
