Barry L. Bender, 59, Reading, died of natural causes May 6 at 2:09 a.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, where he had been a patient for one day. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Mary A. (Dietrich) Bender. Bender had been employed for nine years as a custodian by the Reading School District, last working in 1998. He is also survived by his wife. Also, a son, and a daughter, both of Reading. Other survivors include a brother, and two sisters. There are also six grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
