On Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, Real Freeman Ransom III, 42, and his wife Cynthia Attwood Ransom, of Austin, died tragically in a plane accident in Houston. Real is survived by three step-children Christopher, Russell, and Jenny; his mother Judy Ransom; his father Real Freeman Ransom II and wife Merrily; sister Lisa Jones; sister Denise Schaefer and husband Merv; nephew Clay Jones; niece Madeline Schaefer; grandmother Gladys Wheeler; uncle Nelson Wheeler; and cousin Nelson Wheeler Jr.

Real grew up in Richmond, and graduated from Lamar High School. He then attended Texas A& M University and graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He built a state of the art Veterinarian Clinic and Kennel in the Austin area.

Real's love of animals began at an early age and he cultivated this passion into his life's work. He was a wonderful Vet, whose practice flourished because of his compassion, love and dedication to animals. Real loved the outdoors enjoying time spent fly-fishing, playing golf, and flying his airplane. He lived life to its fullest. Real gave freely of his talents, worked hard, and enjoyed time spent with friends and family.
