NORRIS CITY

William B. "Bud" Griffith, 88, Norris City, died at 8 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

Mr. Griffith was born Jan. 4, 1914, in Norris City, the son of James David and Annie (Acord) Griffith. He married Theresa Allen June 28, 1962. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a military policeman. He was a member of Albion Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Norris City. Mr. Griffith was a station operator for Texas Eastern Pipeline.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa Griffith of Norris City; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Charles "Skip" Gossett of Speedway, Ind.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Tricia and Tim Brown and Caroline and Steve Cork; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Brown and Daniel Cork; a sister, Mary Griffith of Norris City; a brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Ella Mae Griffith of Norris City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, the Rev. Frank Griffith and his twin, Daley Griffith.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday morning at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, the Rev. Kevin Peyton officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Norris City. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post 109 of Norris City. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home
