As a young man, he was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church in Oklahoma and served as Sunday school superintendent for many years. In the early 1920s he moved to California and worked in lumber mills near Westwood.
Later he moved to the Woodlake area and was engaged in farming for many years. Mr. Woods and his pet horse were regular entries in the Woodlake Pioneer Day parades.
After he suffered a stroke in 1955, he made his home in the Sequoia Rest Home, and died in a Tulare hospital after an extended illness.
