Dorothy's family surrounded her as she peacefully passed away at Salem Hospital. Dorothy was born to Carl and Mabel Plagmann in Albany, Ore., where she lived until 1935 when her family moved to a farm on the South Santiam River in Lebanon, Ore. She married Estle Buchanan in 1941 and for over 69 years they were blessed with loving companionship. Dorothy worked 25 years for Salem Public Schools Food Service and was an active member of Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church. After retirement in 1982, Dorothy and Estle made many good friends through Courthouse Athletic Club, while snow-birding to Arizona and volunteering as campground hosts around Oregon. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, spending time at their coastal property, playing card games, creating lovely handmade items, water aerobics, bird watching, cooking and especially spending time with friends and family. Her husband, Estle; son, Cary Buchanan and wife Marilyn; daughter, Carla Jones and husband Curt; daughter, Cherry Beeken and husband Kurt; along with 6 grandchildren and 4 great-granchildren will deeply miss her sweet soul. Please join us in celebration of Dorothy's life at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 10 at Restlawn in West Salem.
