Larry Gene McCready, 58, of Lusby, MD, died at home on May 10, 2004, surrounding by his loved ones. He was born in Prince Frederick, MD on January 21, 1946 to the late Ethel Marie Thomas and Earl Stewart McCready, Sr.

Larry served in the U.S. Army, after graduation from Calvert Senior High School, from 1964–1967, including a tour in South Korea. At the time of his death, he was employed at Sears as a Technical Manager in the Product Services Division, where he had worked for more than 37 years. He was an active member of American Legion Post #274 in Lusby, MD. Most of all, he was a dedicated and loving husband and father and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family. He adored his wife, two daughters, and his three grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to attend a family gathering. He loved to play golf and to travel. Larry could and would talk to anyone, and was famous for telling stories of days gone by and was loved by all who knew him. Now his family will tell his stories and keep his memory alive and strong in their hearts.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Earl Stewart McCready, Jr., and his sister Shirley Ann Miller and brother-in-law Donald Lee Miller. (Shirley and Don became Larry's guardians after the death of his mother.)

Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna Lynn Wilson McCready; daughters Shannon Dawn McCready Willis, and Casey Lynn McCready; grandchildren Haleigh Alexandra Willis, Hannah Delaney Willis, and Jacob Howard Willis, (Larry had a fourth grandchild, Avery Grant McCready Kettler, after his death) all of Lusby, MD; siblings Rose Marie Haglauer (Tom) of Baltimore, MD, Earlene Elizabeth Blaylock, Lusby, MD; Ethel Yvonne Armstrong, Flagler Beach, FL; Brenda Lee Johnson (Jack) Lusby, MD, son-in-law Joe Willis, Lusby, MD; sisters- and brothers-in-law Dawn Wilson Langley and Billy Langley Lusby, MD, Darwin Wilson, Jr. and Sandy Wilson, Lexington Park, MD; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Lusby, MD. The officiating minister was Rev. Ron Collier, with internment in the church cemetery. Pallbears were Joshua Langley, Eric Wilson, John Johnson III, James "Buddy" Armstrong, Tom Haglauer, Jr., and John Haglauer.
