Bernard Martin Jacobsen was born in Clinton,Iowa on September 14,1917, the eldest son of William S. and Mae Madsen Jacobsen,his younger brother is Maenard.He graduated from Clinton High School and he attended American and Catholic Universities in Washington,D.C.

Jake joined the navy in January of 1942 and served as a training officer at the Training Station,Terminal Island,San Pedro,California and aboard the light cruiser.S.S. San Juan.he was a patrol officer ashore after the signing of the peace treaty at Yokasuka,Japan and was discharged in January 1946.
He spent his working career in radio broadcasting industry with employment at WLW,Cincinnati,Ohio,WOL,Washington,D.C.,and WTTG TV,Washington,D.C. He established his own station WSKI Washington D.C.,and Montpelier,Vermont.In 1951 Jake became owner and manager of KROS in Clinton,Iowa.He was valued member and officer of many state and local associations and boards.
He resign from the Clinton Area Development Corp is a non-profit Iowa corporation supported by 200 Clinton area businesses and industries.

Jake is survived by his wife,Patricia of lakeway,Texas,a daughter,Martha Jacobsen Fury and husband Bill of San Antonia,Texas.A brother,Maenard of Branson,Missouri.He leaves four grandchildren and he is also survived step-grandchildren.Jake's gentle,easy manner,his broad smile aand genuine concern of others,his love of family and community leaves his family and friends with worthy standards.Jake was a true gentleman.
He died Sunday at Seton Medical Center,Austin,Texas.,he was 80 years old.He was formerly of Clinton,Iowa.



The service will be held at the Lakeway Ecumenical Church in Lakeway,Texas.Additional services will be held at 2:30 Friday,January 2,1998 at St.John's Episcopal Church,Clinton,Iowa.
Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery,Clinton,Iowa.Pallbearers will be:Martha Louise Stolp,David and James Peterson,Fred McCormick,and Maenard Jacobsen.

Memorials may be made to St.John's Episcopal Church Clinton,Iowa or Lakeway Park Commission,in care of the city of Lakeway,Texas 78734.
