BRIDGEPORT, Ill. - Alpha M. "Al' Harlan, 87, Lawrenceville, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

Born June 8, 1915, in Lawrence County, he was the son of James W. and Mary Frances (Klingler) Harlan.

He was retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Bridgeport.

His wife, Mary (Phillips) Harlan, died Aug. 15, 1982. A brother and two sisters are also deceased.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Hetzler of Robinson; and a son, Leslie Harlan of Lawrenceville; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport by Bill Cox. Burial in Keplinger Cemetery.
