Mrs. Tura Lizzie Freeman, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012. She was born August 16, 1916 the daughter of the late Robert Lee Johnson and Katie Lee Coats Johnson. Mrs. Freeman was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she enjoyed working in the nursery and was known affectionately by the children simply as "Freeman". Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hosmer H. Freeman; brother, Samuel Johnson; sisters, Clara Griffin, Corene Bledsoe, Zelma Smith, Eunice Crawford and Katie Johnson; and a son in law, Ron Wiggins.
Survivors include her daughters and son in law, Vyckie & Eddie Adams and Sammie Wiggins all of Carrollton; sister, Frances Craft of Austell, GA.; grandchildren, Amy & Walt Murphy of Villa Rica, GA., Rob & Michelle Adams of New York City, NY, Eddie & Becky Colwell of Carrollton, GA., Andrew Wiggins of Auburn, AL.; and her beloved kitty, Whiskers.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, February 13, 2012 at 3 PM from the chapel of Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Gentry and Dr. Rob Adams officiating. Pallbearers will include her grandsons, Rob Adams, Eddie Colwell, Andrew Wiggins, Walt Murphy, and her nephews, Ken Wiggins and Brad Gambrell. Music will be rendered by Mark Witham and Mrs. Betty Sue Smith. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7:00 until 8:00 PM and on Monday afternoon at the Church from 2:00 PM until the service hour.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and family at The Oaks Assisted Living Home of Carrollton and all those family and friends that have expressed their love and support during Tura's illness.
