"T R Allen, 71, Fairfield, died at 6:15, Tuesday at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. He had been in ill health for several years & seriously ill for the last six weeks. Mr Allen was born in Laurel Co, Ky, July 18, 1898, a son of Matt & Mary Jane Parsley Allen. He was educated in Laurel Co, then moved to Hamilton as a young man. August 20, 1920, he married Ella Carter. Until his retirement in 1962, Mr Allen was employed as a machinist at Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Inc.
"Mr Allen was a member of the First Baptist Church for 40 years. He was active on the board of deacons, board of trustees, & building committee, which planned the St Clair Ave Baptist Church. He was member of both the Benjamin Franklin Lodge No. 719, F & AM, & of the Hamilton Chapter of No 21, RAM. Most of his interests, however, centered around his home, family, & grandchildren.
Mr Allen leaves his wife, Ella; two daughters, Mrs Donald (Emma) Leroy & Mrs George (Edna) Wehrley; five grandchildren, George A Wehrley, Donald C LeRoy, Mrs Sandra Wehrley Focht, Mrs Mary K LeRoy, & Robert LeRoy; five brothers, Charles Allen, Pittsburg, Ky, William Allen, Richmond, Va, Nathaniel & Thomas Allen, Hamilton, & Joseph Allen, Miami, Fla. He was preceded in death by six brothers & one sister.
"Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm, at Webb Funeral Home, Hamilton, with the Rev George B Scripture, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 until 9 pm, Wednesday. Masonic services will be at7:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home."
