Grace C. Childers, 96, of Perkins Pavilion, died Sunday, October 24, 2004 at Perkins Pavilion. Grace was born July 16, 1908 in at Tucumcari, New Mexico to William H. & Cecile (Beggs) Mead.

Grace grew up and attended schools in the Harvard, Giltner and Aurora Nebraska areas. She married Edwards Pitts in October of 1928 and he preceded her in death in July of 1929. She moved to Hastings from Giltner in 1930 and in 1932, she married Lee Childers in Phillipsburg, Kansas. He preceded he in death in 1966. She worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot and Ordinance Plant in Grand Island, Nebraska. She was involved in child care for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of World War I Auxiliary.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Edward Pitts and Lee Childers, son, Edward Pitts, three sisters and three brothers.
