A native of Engelhard, she lived most of her life at Stumpy Point. She was a daughter of Richard and Mrs. Anna Neal Brinn and the widow of Hyman G. Payne. She was a member of Stumpy Point Methodist Church.
Besides her daughter, surviving are two sons: Gaskill H. Payne of South Norfolk and Ira O. Payne of Stumpy Point; two brothers: Mirian Brinn of Florida and Mack Brinn of Portsmouth; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
