Body Of Hero Is Back In Ada

Rites Set Thursday For Pfc. John Beach

ADA, Dec. 10 - The body of Pfc. John F. Beach, 33, Ada's second returned war hero, arrived here from Columbus at 2:53 p.m. Tuesday, and was taken to the Lantz & Cretors funeral home.

Memorial services will be conducted at the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Raymond Touvell in charge. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion at Woodlawn cemetery.

Pfc. Beach, a son of Mrs. Mary Beach, 120 W. Highland-av, serving with Gen. Patton's Third Army, was killed Dec. 7, 1944, while his division was driving the Germans from Hurtgen forest.

Pfc. Beach was born at Bluffton, Jan. 29, 1911, and later lived in Lima and Ada. He was an employe of Lima Westinghouse Electric Corp. plant at the time of his induction.

Surviving besides his mother are two brothers, Ralph Beach and Donald Beach and a sister, Ethel at home, and his father, Fred Beach, Buffalo, N.Y.
