This attractive building at 2172 Wealthy St. S.E., was originally opened as APSEY'S JERSEY FARMS by JOHN E. APSEY, JR., in February of 1933. Although the dairy has long been gone this distinctive building still exists in the heart of Gaslight Village in East Grand Rapids. Over the years, it has gone thorough a number of incarnations and, as of January 18, 2013, it houses a STARBUCKS coffee shop.

SUNSHINE AND AIR REIGN AT MODEL PLANT

ATTRACTIVE STRUCTURE ON WEALTHY ST. IN EAST G.R. BEGINS BUSINESS THIS WEEK WITH OPEN HOUSE

A dairy, replete with the most modern machinery known to the business and housed in a modern and beautiful structure at 2172 Wealthy st., SE., in East Grand Rapids, will be opened on Saturday by JOHN E. APSEY, JR., veteran Grand Rapids dairyman under the name of APSEY'S JERSEY FARMS.

The name Apsey has been associated with the dairy business in Grand Rapids for almost 40 years. Until a few years ago when he retired from the business the Apsey name was associated with the finest in dairy products and his customers were a legion.

Returning to the business again, Mr. Apsey first built for his business home a structure not only pleasing to the eye, but architecturallly correct for his enterprise. The building was carefully designed to house the necessary equipment and so planned to provide ease of operation that the results may be passed on to his customers.

No expense has been spared in either the building or the equipment. The very latest machines needed in pasteurizing the milk and in bottling have been installed. The bottle washers are of the latest design and certain to do their task thoroughly.

MUCH SUNLIGHT

Sanitation was utmost in the minds of the architects when they planned the building. Sunlight will stream in from all sides and the inside is of a composition that makes for cleanliness.

The dairy will be thrown open to the public three days this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Everyone interested is cordially invited to inspect the building and its equipment and see for themselves just how every step in the pasteurizing and bottling of the milk is done.

Mr. Apsey plans to handle a complete line of dairy products, including butter.
