Rose Kathryne Bumgarner Rau, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Interment: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole. Memorials: Music Ministry of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 7001 Trail Lake Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76133; or Friends of the Nature Center, 9601 Fossil Ridge Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76135. Rose was born in Odessa, Mo., on July 24, 1925, the fourth of five children born to Willie E. and Venita Whitsitt Bumgarner. She attended school in the Odessa schools, where she also played basketball and softball, and attended the University of Missouri where she received a master's degree in physiology. She married G. Carl Rau on May 30, 1948. They lived in Columbia, Mo., where their two children were born. They later moved to Kansas City and then to Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, G. Carl Rau. Survivors: Her daughter, Venita MacGorman and her husband, Dr. Don MacGorman; son, Jim Rau; granddaughters, Erin MacGorman Moore and her husband, Lucas, and Kristen MacGorman; great-granddaughter, Amber Rose Moore; sister, Billie Jean Vogel; and brother, Roger William Bumgarner.
