Joseph Francis Lanzillotti
Chief Warrant Officer 4, USAF (Retired)

BOSSIER CITY, LA – Mr. Joseph Lanzillotti, 69, of Bossier City, Louisiana died Wednesday, March 28, 1990 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Lanzillotti, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, had a long and distinguished career as Commander – Conductor of numerous military marching and concert bands in the Pacific, Europe and the United States. He served in the 3rd Armored Division in World War II receiving the Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge.

He retired at Barksdale AFB in 1970 having been awarded the Strategic Air Command Special Tribute, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Meritorious Service Medal.

Mr. Lanzillotti was educated in the Wilmington public schools and studied violin at an early age with members of the Curtis Institute String Quartet. He was a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music of Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Since his retirement, he was active as a local real estate agent and participated in the music ministry of The Children of Light Prayer Group and St. Jude Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Francis Lanzillotti, Jr., his parents, one brother and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Jenson Lanzillotti, his children Christine Villarreal, Joanne Spivey, Mary Beth Gaspard, Teresa Worley and Dominick Lanzillotti, all of Bossier City, Victor Lanzillotti of Cohasset, Massachusetts and David Lanzillotti of Wilmington, Delaware; his mother-in-law, Essie Jenson of Bossier City, his sister, Josephine Van Dyke of Hampton, Virginia, seventeen grandchildren, three nephews and five nieces.

Pallbearers will be Abe Cowan, Charles Graham, Peter Mangum, Robert Nicholson, Joseph Rochelle and Richard Simmons.

A Scriptural Wake Service for Mr. Lanzillotti will be held at Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City, at 7 p.m. Friday evening. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church in Bossier City, Father Philip Michiels, Pastor.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
