David L. Barnwell, 85, of Crossville, passed away May 11, 2003. Funeral services were conducted May 13 at the Pomona United Methodist Church, with burial in Pomona Cemetery. Bros. Bratton Tucker and Buford Kelley officiated, with special music by the Pomona Church Choir.
Mr. Barnwell was born Jan. 8, 1918 in Cumberland County, TN, the son of George and Jeanie Griffis Barnwell.
He worked in stone quarries over 30 years and retired with 10 years at Carter's Inc.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lavena Myers Barnwell of Crossville; special brothers-in-law and their wives, Al and Betty Myers and Lawrence and Nina Myers, all of Crossville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie, Fred, Horace, Gid, Frank, John, Almon and Albert Barnwell; and sisters, Elizabeth Rector, Rhoda Bell and Willie Barnwell.
Pallbearers were Sam Shields, Marcus Davis, Sam Graham, Jerry Graham, Teddy Wyatt, Randy Barnwell and Danny Jones.
Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
