"Nils Berg was born 17 July 1831 in Sweden and died 9 July 1895 in St Peter, MN of Typhoid Fever.

Nils came to America with his parents (Per Berg) and his sister Catharine in 1850 and settled in Chisago County. Nils went by the last name Lindberg, although his father went by the name Peter Berg. His sister Catharine would later marry Sven S. Hamilton, the stepson of Hakan Swedberg.

Nils was a charter member of the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church of Center City, organized 12 May 1854.

Nils wife Maria Margareta Stockhaus Eriksdotter was born on 8-Jul-1931 in Gavleborg Bjaker,Sweden. Another date previously attributed as her birth date (26-Sept-1831) is more likely to be a church christening date.

Nils and Maria were married on the 24 Nov 1860 in Center City, MN. She had immigrated from Sweden earlier that year.

To this Union five children were born:

Lillian Caroline, b. 12-Jul-1864
Anna Sophie, b. 15-Aug-1866

Nils wife Maria died during birth of their last child, both mother and child died, 24 June 1874. Her burial location is unknown as of this date (23-Sep-2012) although her sister, Julia Eriksdotter Anderson is found in Isanti County, MN.

The Nils Lindberg family lived at Fish Lake most his life with his wife and children. Nils died in St. Peter, MN and was brought back to Chisago County to be buried in the Fish Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery at Stark, MN.

Son Theodore W Lindberg and his wife Bessie, were owners of the Grant House in Rush City, MN and were married there.
