WHITE RIVER JCT., VT. - Frederick B. "Rick" McCarthy, 46, died April 16 [1992], at his White River home. He was born in Washington, the son of Frederick B. and Mary Styron McCarthy. He graduated from Hartford High School and the University of Maryland with a degree in Business Administration. He worked for the Council of Governments in Washington, D.C. and later worked as a commercial fisherman in Hatteras. Rick moved to White River Jct. in 1984 and following his father's retirement, operated the Frederick B. McCarthy hearing aid business until 1991. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Friends of the Gates Memorial Library in White River Jct. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, bridge, golf and gardening. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Mary and Rodney Akers of White River Jct., and his father and step-mother, Frederick and Virginia McCarthy of Milwaukee, Wisc.; a step-brother, Rodney A. Akers, Jr. of West Sand Lake, N.Y.; a step-sister, Rebecca Marx of Erie, Pa.; an aunt, two uncles and many cousins. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Hatteras on Sunday, May 17 at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the family plot, Rollinson Cemetery, in Hatteras.
