Elroy farmed in the Town of Pierce until retiring. After retiring, he drove bus for the Luxemburg-Casco School District, still driving at present.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years. Elroy was a member of the Casco American Legion Post 319. He enjoyed hunting and playing cards with his family.
He married Sylvia Havel on Nov. 25, 1952, in Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; two children, Mary (Bill) Jadin, Kewaunee, and John (Peggy) Bitzan, Algoma; six grandchildren, Eric (Mandy) Jadin, Erynn Jadin, Pam (Andy) Feld, Curt Bitzan and friend, Sara, Adam Bitzan and Brian Bitzan; four sisters and one brother, Edna (Floyd) Hanamann, Dunbar, Ethel (Earl) Glander, Cleveland, Elda (Ernald) Anderson, Sturgeon Bay, Eleanor Machut, Kewaunee, and Emery (Judy) Bitzan, Brookfield; one sister-in-law, Jean (Clarence) Jerovitz, Kewaunee; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Bitzan and Earl (Vi) Bitzan; one sister, Eunice (Russell) Hanamann; one brother-in-law, Melvin Machut.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and again Wednesday morning until time of service at Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home, Casco. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Howard Batt officiating. Cremation to follow.
