VIRGIL JONES DIES AT THE AGE OF 92
Passed Away at the Home of His Daughter, Mrs William Grothe, Thursday Afternoon.
Virgil S Jones, ninety-two years old, died at the home of his daughter Mrs William Grothe, five miles east of Chillicothe, Thursday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock. The body is at the Norman Funeral Home, from which place funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Reverend Mathis. Burial in Edgewood.
Mr Jones, who was a Civil War veteran, had been making his home with his daughter for the past seven years.
Besides Mrs Grothe four other children, Mrs L E Wells, Mrs Charles Payne and Miss Virginia V Jones, all of Los Angeles, and Mrs Wells Metcalf of Two Buttes, Colorado survive. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs Jennie Vanderwort of Madill, Oklahoma.

Virgil S Jones was born near Morgantown West Virginia September 30, 1842.
He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs William Grothe, five miles east of Chillicothe, where he was tenderly cared for the past seven years, at the age of 92 years, six months and 26 days.
His former home, since 1885, was at Syracuse, Kansas.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Robinson in the year of 1872. This home was blessed with eight children, five of whom survive. They are: Mrs William Grothe, Chillicothe; Mrs Lawrence E Wells, Mrs Charles Payne and Virgil V Jones, all of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs Wells Metcalf, Two Buttes, Colorado; also one sister, Mrs Jennie Vandervort, Madill, Oklahoma, and eleven grandchildren. His companion preceded him in death August 18, 1922.
Mr Jones united with the Christian Church when a young man; he was a soldier in the Civil War, having served four years in Company A, 1st West Virginia Cavalry.
He was a good husband and father, maintaining his good will and love for his loved ones until the end. He was possessed of a fine sense of humor and wit, always cheerful. His friends are numerous and he was permitted to live long to enjoy all.
The funeral was held from the Norman Funeral Home, conducted by A P Mathes. Burial was in the Edgewood cemetery.
