The search continues for parents of Harriet T Davis.

A number of researchers who are coming to the conclusion that Priscilla, the wife of Richard Windsor Davis, was NOT the daughter of George and Priscilla King Calvert. In fact there is room to believe that her maiden name was King and that her father was a son of Hargess and Winifred King.

So, this puts out the following theory:
Harriet T Davis was the daughter of Richard Windsor Davis and Priscilla Calvert. We believe her father abandoned the family. This we know - she had a sister Mary King Davis who married Decon James Davis.

Facts:
She married John Kincheloe August 04, 1830 in Washington D.C.

Harriet T Davis and her sister Mary King Davis were under age when mother died and James Sangster was appointed guardian. This is under study as we work to find further information.

She had the following children:
Mary P. Kincheloe b: 20 Feb 1831
Cornelius Kincheloe b: 25 Apr 1833
Susan E. Kincheloe b: Mar 1835
William Simpson Kincheloe b: 21 Dec 1836
John Robert Kincheloe b: 25 Dec 1838
Ann Catharine Kincheloe b: 8 Apr 1841

Feb 13, 2014 - a previous error in above memorial corrected as Harriet was the d/o Richard Windsor Davis and Priscilla Calvert. George Calvert and Priscilla King was her maternal grandparents.

To update/confirm your current knowledge: Mary King Davis b.November 26,1809 d. January 19,1879 and her sister Harriet Taylor Davis Kincheloe b.January 2, 1812 d.April 29, 1887 were among others, children of Richard Windsor Davis b. January 29, 1779 no known death date. and Priscilla Davis nee King? b. June 21, 1787 d.December 25, 1823. It is Priscilla whom I/we are more convinced is not a child of George Calvert and Priscilla King, daughter of Hargis King and Winifred.
Mary King Davis married Deacon James Davis b. March 10,1806 d. January 16, 1879.
Harriet Taylor Davis married John Kincheloe IV April 8, 1830 although I have another document that indicates August 4, 1830.

Her brother would be Neuman Windsor Davis b 1805

Suggested edit: Hello again. I poked around a little. J. Gordon Kincheloe was the great grandson of Harriet. I found his parents and grandparents and sent edit links to the memorial managers. J. Gordon was the neighbor of Edith Grace Gainer in the 1940 Census. She died in 1966. Edith Grace Gainer was the granddaughter of Mariah (Seal) Head. Mariah and Harriet are contemporaries (see memorial # 189346182). Mariah named one of her daughters Harriet, and one of her sons has the middle name of Davis. Two grandchildren also had middle names of Davis. I don't know Mariah's mother's maiden name, but her 2x great grandparents are likely William Temple and Hannah (Taylor) Temple, whose daughter Susanna married William Seal, Sr. Mariah's daughter Eliza married James Henry Taylor, son of Elizabeth Taylor (memorial # 190684553), but it is not clear if Elizabeth was any relation to Hannah. I do not know Elizabeth's husband's name, but they arrived in Maryland from Scotland/England between 1820 and 1829.

I haven't found Noah Lippincott's grave yet, but his daughter Harriet King (Lippincott) Anderson is memorial # 44314870, her brother Noah Lippincott is memorial # 11083496, and they are descendants of Restore Lippincott (memorial # 101798218).
