...........................................................Sarah Luella (Pettis) was born in Monroe Co, Arkansas. Her parents were Stephen E Pettis and Amanda H Parker. Her father Stephen was killed in the Civil War in Mulberry, Crawford, Arkansas on Nov 9 1862. Her mother Amanda re-married Willis K Criswell. Sarah married William Benjamin Rowden on Dec 5 1880 in Dewitt, Arkansas, Arkansas. They had three children that lived, Odessie Pearl, Lillian O, and Rolla Ira. Sarah (called Ella) and her husband William (Will) have one gravestone. The death year on the gravestone for both Sarah and William are incorrect. Their son Rolla (my grandfather) had the stone erected and gave the incorrect death dates. Sarah died in 1929 a year before William and William died in 1930. It shows she died in 1928 and he in 1929. I have the death certificates for both.
