CADIZ, Ky. - Arthur "Buck" Birdsong, 84, of Cadiz, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray.

Mr. Birdsong, a native of Trigg County, was a farmer, a retired carpenter and a former employee of Cedar Bluff Stone Co., in Trigg County.

Surviving are three sons, Boyce Birdsong of Trigg County, Jerry Birdsong of Murray, and Monte Birdsong of Trigg County; two daughters, Mary Mitcheson and Doris Littlejohn, both of Trigg County; two brothers, Taft Birdsong and Arvin Birdsong, both of Trigg County; two sisters, Myrtle Rhea Page of Calloway County, and Lora Dale Fulks of Christian County; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Birdsong was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Colson Birdsong, and three sons including James Alton Birdsong.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Goodwin Funeral Home. The Revs. Terry Mitcheson, Danny Mitcheson and Irvin Darnall will officiate. Burial will be in Cumberland-Matheny Cemetery.

His parents were Jess Birdsong and Grace Pogue Birdsong.
